serial cities is kind of a two-fold project: on the one hand it is an attempt at a new kind of personal travel journal, and on the other a research project that seeks to amass a visual database of some of the aspects of urban form that contribute to the identity and experience of a city.

serial cities is also about mapping: the explorations of each city visited are documented on maps that also serve as graphic comparisons of city form. the reductive nature of the maps originated with the graphics for the City Plates — a series of twenty ceramic plates developed for notNeutral that uses mapping to look at the relationship between cities in the context of five urban themes:http://www.notneutral.com/index.php/dine.html?config_pattern=58http://www.notneutral.com/shapeimage_5_link_0shapeimage_5_link_1
