In Japan people of all ages read manga. The genre includes a broad range of subjects: action-adventure, romance, sports and games, historical drama, comedy, science fiction and fantasy, mystery, horror, and sexuality, among others. In 1995 the anime movie ‘Ghost in the Shell’ was a big hit in America, further popularizing an already diverse medium that finds expression in a range of cultures: comics, bandes dessinées, and lianhuanhua to name a few.http://www.manga.com/http://www.abcb.com/ency/k/_koukaku.htmhttp://comics.com/http://www.fiaf.org/library/bandes-dessinees.shtmlhttp://digicoll.manoa.hawaii.edu/storybook/index.php?c=1shapeimage_6_link_0shapeimage_6_link_1shapeimage_6_link_2shapeimage_6_link_3shapeimage_6_link_4
