Los Angeles developed in a distinct urban pattern counter to the traditional condensed urban cores of earlier AMerican cities on the East Coast. Despite the continued efforts to establish Downtown L.A. as the main urban core, Los Angeles will always have multiple city ‘centers’. What has been considered sprawl is more and more becoming the model for urban development, as cities grow together/toward each other to each critical mass.
